Tactile Loop

An Arduino-based game controller translating physical input into digital interaction through UnoJoy.

Tactile Loop is a custom game controller developed as a responsive electronics exercise using an Arduino Uno and the UnoJoy library. The project translates physical actions into digital game inputs, allowing the Arduino to function as a USB game controller through a combination of joystick movement and push-button commands. A 3D-printed PLA enclosure organizes the electronics into a single handheld desktop interface while exposing the controls to the user. The design integrates a joystick, two primary buttons, indicator lights and a small display within a layered black-and-white housing. The enclosure was developed around the internal hardware, cable routing and access requirements rather than treating the electronics as separate components. Built with Zoe Wall, the project focused on sensing, actuation, physical interaction and real-time feedback. It demonstrates how a simple microcontroller can become an intuitive human-machine interface by connecting tactile input, embedded electronics and digital control within a coherent fabricated object.
